KEOLABS consolidates leadership in electronic identity and authentication
28 July 2015, Montbonnot France – KEOLABS, a leading provider of smart card and NFC testing solutions and services, announced that they have been retained by ACSIEL (l'alliance des composants et systèmes pour l'industrie électronique) for the specification of the testing standards for the eIDAS (electronic identification and trust services) token for the protection of personal data.
The eIDAS specification, part of the Digital Agenda for Europe 2020, aims to bolster the Interoperability Framework for electronic and on-line identification with token-based and customized solutions for identification, authentication and signature that are directly interoperable. The eIDAS token standard leverages eMRTD (electronic Machine Readable Travel Document) technologies and practices in order to extend a common standard to all electronic transactions that require identification and authentication. The eIDAS initiative is a joint French-German contribution implicating both the French ANSSI (Agence nationale de la sécurité des systèmes d'information) and the German BSI (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik) agencies.
In the context of eIDAS, KEOLABS has been retained by ACSIEL to consult on the eIDAS Token specifications and will specify the testing procedures for conformance verification. "ACSIEL's selection of KEOLABS is a strong vote of confidence in our expertise and leadership in identity testing and eMRTD technologies," explained Stephane Jobard, KEOLABS' Director of Testing Solutions. "Our engagement in standards initiatives such as eIDAS also ensures that KEOLABS' customers will benefit from both testing solutions and services that meet the future requirements for electronic identification," he added.
ACSIEL is an alliance of semi-conductor manufacturers, laboratories and related companies that represents and promotes the electronic component and semi-conductor industry in France. Its members include leading companies in general purpose and secure components including Intel, STMicroelectronics, Gemalto and Obertur Technologies to name a few.
