Arjo Systems Chooses KEOLABS' for ePassport Certification

From in-house testing to certification, KEOLABS accompanies Arjo Systems’ ePassport products to market

16 April 2015 Montbonnot, France – Arjo Systems announced their selection of KEOLABS’ testing solutions and Testing Laboratory for in-house testing and third-party validation of their e-cards and Paperlam® inlays, which are inserted in e-passport booklets for many countries. For in-house testing, Arjo Systems selected the KEOLABS' analog and digital test bench for validation under the ICAO standard for secure e-passports. For third-party testing, they have selected KEOLABS’ ISO/IEC 17025 accredited testing laboratory for final device conformance certification.

"Our decision is based both on our experience with KEOLABS and the value of their testing offer," explained Jean-Yves Leroy, Technical Director at Arjo Systems. “KEOLABS has a very complete testing tool and service offer that takes us all the way through conformance testing,” Jean-Yves Leroy added, “but we equally appreciate that they work with us to understand the test results that we are getting and the testing standards.”

KEOLABS Testing Laboratory is an accredited conformance testing provider for smart cards and card readers. It is accredited by the COFRAC (French Accreditation Committee) under the standard ISO/IEC 17025 v 2005 for testing laboratories. The laboratory conducts offers debugging services and conformance testing for cards and readers in accordance with ISO/IEC 10373-6, ICAO, IAS ECC and ISO/IEC 18013 standards. KEOLABS' card and reader testing solutions are themselves validated through extensive collaboration on standards specification and rigorous use in KEOLABS' Testing Laboratory. KEOLABS' ICAO and ISO/IEC 10373-6 analog and digital test bench is a turnkey solution that allows companies to implement an in-house test bench that conforms to ICAO and ISO/IEC 10373-6 testing specifications.

Implementing an in-house testing solution for ICAO analog and digital pre-certification, makes it possible to ensure that products conform to the relevant standards throughout product development and production cycles. The testing validates the physical implementation of contactless smart cards and their functionality. Physical implementation includes the electrical characteristics of the device being tested and its implementation of relevant communication protocols to ensure interoperability with deployed and future passport readers.
