KEOLABS' Testing Lab Accreditation Renewed

Certification Center provides smart card conformance testing for ISO/IEC 10373-6, ICAO and IAS ECC

Salon-de-Provence, FRANCE - May 7, 2013 – KEOLABS announced today the re-accreditation of the Certification Center, formerly Soliatis Lab, as a smart card conformance testing laboratory. “The accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025 for competence as a testing laboratory is primordial to the legitimacy of the Certification Center. It is a validation of our techniques and processes, and a pre-requisite for qualification as a certifying laboratory for other standards organizations like NFC Forum and EMVCo,” explained Michael Leplatois, KEOLABS President.

KEOLABS’ conformance testing laboratory, the Certification Center based in Salon-de-Provence, France, has maintained the accreditation delivered by the COFRAC (French Accreditation Committee) since 2009 when it was first validated as Soliatis Lab. The laboratory has progressively extended the scope of its credentials to cover certification of ISO/IEC 14443 smart cards at all levels of implementation under the ISO/IEC 10373-6 standard for contactless smart cards and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standard for electronic passports.

“This re-accreditation validates our laboratories' conformance testing capabilities of contactless smart objects, notably under the ISO/IEC 10373-6 standard, which is a functional qualification common to a range of application sectors including identity, fare collection and payments,” stated Denis Manceau, KEOLABS Certification Center Manager. “In addition it affirms our conformance testing capabilities under application-specific standards like ICAO and IAS ECC, which are essential to helping authorities and producers of smart objects ensure the security and interoperability of electronic identity documents,” added Denis Manceau.

ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for validating certification laboratories in regards to the reliability of test results provided by the laboratory. The COFRAC accreditation process is an annual audit of test method implementation and processes used in the certification laboratory. The COFRAC is the sole organization responsible for evaluating and accrediting certification laboratories in France. COFRAC is a member of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) arrangement, which guarantees an international recognition of the accreditations made by the COFRAC. Complete information about the scope of the accreditation of KEOLABS (accreditation No. 1-2468) is provided at

The ICAO establishes standards ensuring the interoperability and security of identification documents. These standards include application, digital, analog and durability characteristics. They are based on ISO/IEC 14443 technology standards, which cover contactless communications.
